Custom Warehouse Security Gate Replacement in Livonia MI

Commercial project · Livonia, Michigan

Altech Doors replaced an aging, rusted security gate at a warehouse access point in Livonia, Michigan. The replacement is a custom mesh gate with a yellow powder-coated finish, a diamond mesh upper section, and a sheet metal lower section.

The new gate was built to the documented dimensions of 14 feet 2¾ inches by 7 feet ¼ inch. Our team assembled its two pieces on site and integrated the gate with the existing track, cables, and operator before completing operational testing.

Replacing an aging gate at a warehouse opening

The warehouse needed a replacement for a gate at one of its main access points. The original gate had visible corrosion along the lower portion, and its finish had deteriorated. The project focused on removing that gate and installing a custom replacement.

The before-and-after photos show the gate within a much taller building opening. This is an important distinction for buyers researching warehouse entrances: the new gate is a barrier across the lower portion of an access opening, rather than a solid door enclosing the entire opening.

A custom mesh and sheet metal assembly

The new gate combines a 1½-inch diamond mesh upper section with a 16-gauge sheet metal lower section. The mesh provides an open view through the upper part of the gate, while the lower portion has a solid face.

A yellow powder-coated finish gives the replacement a consistent appearance across its frame and lower panels. The finished photograph shows the bright gate set within the existing warehouse opening, alongside the surrounding building and access area.

For a facility considering a similar replacement, the material layout and overall dimensions are useful starting points for a conversation. Discuss how the opening is used and what the gate needs to accomplish so the proposed assembly can be evaluated for that application.

Installing the gate with existing components

Our team removed the old gate and assembled the two-piece replacement on site. The new gate was installed using the existing track, cables, and operator. Old materials were removed, and the completed setup was tested on site.

This project demonstrates that a gate replacement can sometimes be integrated with existing components. It does not mean every existing track or operator will suit a new gate. Condition, dimensions, and compatibility need to be assessed for the specific system before deciding which components to retain.

The completed warehouse gate replacement

The visible change is clear: the aging gate with a weathered lower section was replaced by a yellow assembly with a uniform finish, diamond mesh upper panels, and a solid lower section. Our team also completed on-site testing of the installed gate and its operation.

A photo comparison is especially useful here because it shows both the gate’s construction and its relationship to the larger access opening. It also helps distinguish this type of project from a rolling shutter or an insulated sectional overhead door.

Planning a similar commercial gate project

Start with photos of the opening and the existing gate, approximate dimensions, and available information about the track and operator. Explain how the opening is used and what is driving the replacement. Those details help frame the discussion before an on-site review.
